On May 21-22, Tomsk Polytechnic University has conducted a seminar on problems of participation of Russian scientific groups in European scientific and technological programmes. Among the participants of this seminar, the administration of international departments of Russian educational institutions and industrial and holding companies has been presented as well as scientific management experts from different Russian cities, including Tumen, Ulan-Ude, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Ekatherinebourg, Krasnoyarsk, Perm, Norilsk, Orenburg. The seminar participants discussed programmes of the European Union Commission (EUC), regulations for participation, foreign partners quest mechanisms, preparation of applications for participation in project competitions, application assessment criteria, intellectual property rights, and participation conditions for Russia in the EUC programmes. Dr. Paul Drath (UK), the EUC expert, conducted the seminar in association with Dr. Eric Prem and Dr. Bernd Wohlkinger, the representatives of the National Austrian communication point in the field of the EUC programmes. Dr. Drath noted participants' great interest in the matters discussed, and their activity during the practical part of the seminar. Tests, exercises, business games, drawing up applications for participation in the EUC competitions, undergoing evaluation training, and a profound theoretical part have assisted the participants in attaining exhaustive knowledge and skills. Detailed information on the internal evaluation procedures and application selection has turned to be very important for people. One may say with confidence, that knowledge obtained at this seminar will allow Russian scientists to formulate applications and submit their projects to the EUC. Alongside with TPU, the International Centre for High Technologies, Singleimage Company (Cambridge, Great Britain), and the Buro fur Internationale Forschungs und Technologiekooperation (Vienna, Austria), have become organizers of this seminar.
